Why ParkSyde

A park for life.

You don't get referred to a park. That's the whole idea.

Acknowledgement of Country

ParkSyde acknowledges the Darumbal People, Traditional Custodians of this land and of the life it provides, and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging. This Country has sustained life here for more than 60,000 years. We hold the keys today, and all are welcome through the gate.

ParkSyde Life Pty Ltd works from Rockhampton, in Central Queensland. The park on this website is a picture of a place, and the place it is a picture of is somebody's Country — cared for long enough, and well enough, that it still provides.

An Acknowledgement of Country is something any organisation may give. It is not a Welcome to Country: a Welcome can only be given by a Traditional Owner of that specific Country, and is arranged rather than written. We would not describe anything on this site as a Welcome.

What this page is for

Most pages on this site carry the statement above in their footer. Twelve do not — the park itself and the eleven rooms you walk into from it are built as single screens with no room below them, so they link here instead. The words are the same words. If they ever stop being the same words, that is a fault and not an edit.

The naming

ParkSyde works from Rockhampton, and this Acknowledgement names the Darumbal People on that basis.

If the Darumbal People, or the corporation that speaks for them, would have any part of this said differently — the naming, the wording, or whether we should be saying it at all — we will change it. That is not a formality. It is their call and not ours, and the fastest way to tell us is the phone number at the bottom of this page.
