Who this room is for
No referral, and open to everyone. There is no threshold to get over and nothing you have to prove before you get in touch.
If you are weighing up whether things are bad enough to bother us with, that is not a test you have to pass first. Nobody is turned away for not being unwell enough.

Talked through before anything begins. Nothing starts until you have said yes to a number you have already seen.
- How it is paid
- This is a private fee, and there is no Medicare rebate for it. You do not need a referral or a mental health care plan to be seen, so seeing a GP to get one will not change what this costs.

Your first conversation
- What happens
- The first appointment is a conversation. You say as much or as little as you want about what brought you here, and it is partly about working out together whether this is the right service for you. There is nothing to prepare and nothing to bring.
- What stays private
- Conversations with your counsellor are private. There are a small number of limits — for example, where there is a serious risk of harm, or where the law requires disclosure — and your counsellor talks these through with you. There is more in how we handle your information.
- What stays your choice
- You can decline something, and we record that too. You can have a support person help you understand and decide. You can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it.
- If it is not the right fit
- Either of you can say so, and saying so is a complete answer. Nobody has to keep going.
- When you write
- A real person reads it and comes back to you, usually within a couple of business days.

NDIS funding
Using NDIS funding? ParkSyde is not registered with the NDIS, and does not need to be for the way we work — some of the people we see pay for their counselling with NDIS funds they manage themselves or through a plan manager, and we can invoice you for it. Whether your plan can be used that way is a question for your plan manager or the NDIA, not for us. More about NDIS funding here.
How the park works
- This is a park. Every shopfront in it is one thing we do.
- You can walk the whole place without giving anybody your name.
- Press a button in a room and it tells you that one thing. Close it and you are back in the room.
- What things cost is posted on the wall, not quoted after a conversation.
- Counselling is the room you are standing in. The way back out to the park is at the bottom of this screen.
- If today is heavy, the three numbers at the corner of every page are free, confidential and open right now.
