Inside the Counselling shop at ParkSyde, drawn in the park’s own low, warm dawn light. A still pool of light lies at the centre of the room, holding the dawn. Nine trees stand spread around it, each mirrored faintly on the floor beneath it, and two lamps on posts flank a footpath of light leading in. Near the pool: a rug, a couch, a soft chair, a cardigan over its back, somebody standing on the open floor — nobody is behind anything, and nothing stands between them and you. Spread out across the room, each on its own post, are six brass push buttons. Their labels, floating over them, read: Who this room is for; What it costs; Your first conversation; Ask for a time; Reach a person; NDIS funding. Pressing one walks you over and the shop tells you that one thing.

Who this room is for

Unhurried, judgement-free, and led by you. No referral, and open to everyone — you don't have to prove you belong here. When you're ready, reach out and a real person will help you take the first step.

Anyone. You do not have to prove you belong here, there is no threshold to get over, and nobody is assessed at the gate. If you are weighing up whether what you are carrying is bad enough to bother us with, that is not a test you have to pass first.

NDIS funding

Using NDIS funding? ParkSyde is not registered with the NDIS, and does not need to be for the way we work — some of the people we see pay for their counselling with NDIS funds they manage themselves or through a plan manager, and we can invoice you for it. Whether your plan can be used that way is a question for your plan manager or the NDIA, not for us. More about NDIS funding here.

How the park works

This is a park. Every shopfront in it is one thing we do.
You can walk the whole place without giving anybody your name.
Press a button in a room and it tells you that one thing. Close it and you are back in the room.
What things cost is posted on the wall, not quoted after a conversation.
Counselling is the room you are standing in. The way back out to the park is at the bottom of this screen.
